PM Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana 2021 Launch
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the Pradhan Mantri Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana (PMSBY), a mega health infrastructure scheme worth over Rs 64,000 crore, in his constituency Varanasi on October 25. The PM will also unveil 9 medical colleges from Siddharthnagar and 30 projects worth Rs. 5,000 crore during his visit. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also be present at the occasion.
The PMSBY scheme, with an outlay of about Rs 64,180 crore over five years, was announced in Budget 2021-22 and got cabinet approval in September 2021. The scheme aims to introduce and enact a set of reforms and initiatives for long-term strengthening of the public health infrastructure. This would be the PM’s second visit to Uttar Pradesh, which goes to polls next year, in a week. Healthcare professionals from public health centres, sub-district and district hospitals, and the Government Medical College of Varanasi will join in virtually.
Objective of PM Atma Nirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana
The objective of the PMSBY scheme is to fill critical gaps in health infrastructure, surveillance, and health research in both urban and rural areas so communities are equipped in managing pandemics or other public health crises.
Benefits of PM Atma Nirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana
The new PM Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana would be helpful in the following areas:-
Developing capacities of primary, secondary and tertiary care health systems
Strengthening of existing institutions
Creation of new institutions to cater to the detection of new diseases
Institutions creation for cure of new emerging diseases.
The new scheme will be an addition to the National Health Mission (NDHM) launched by PM Narendra Modi earlier.
Health Infrastructure Development in PradhanMantri atma Nirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana
The Finance Minister has emphasized the importance of healthcare infrastructure development in the post-Covid world. For this purpose, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman mentioned that the investment in health infrastructure has been substantially increased. The areas of preventive health, curative health and well-being would be strengthened over the years through PM Atma Nirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana.
The central government is going to provide Rs. 35,000 crore for the Covid-19 vaccination program in 2021-22. The Union govt. of India is committed to providing more funds if needed. Today India has two vaccines available and has begun safeguarding not only her own citizens against Covid-19 but also those of 100 or more countries. It has added comfort to know that two more vaccines are also expected soon.
Pillars of Union Budget 2021-2022
Union Budget 2021 proposals would rest on six pillars which are as follows:-
Health and Well-Being
Physical and Financial capital and infrastructure
Inclusive Development for Aspirational India
Reinvigorating Human Capital
Innovation
Research & Development
The Finance Minister mentioned that the government stretched its resources for the benefit of the poorest of the poor. The PM Garib Kalyan Yojana, the three Atma Nirbhar Bharat packages and subsequent announcements were like five mini-budgets in themselves. India now has one of the lowest COVID-19 death rates of 112 per million population and one of the lowest active cases of about 130 per million.
It has been only 3 times has the Budget followed a contraction in the economy. This time unlike before, the situation is due to a global Coronavirus pandemic. Budget 2021 provides every opportunity for the economy to capture pace and grow sustainably.
