 Hello friends,Today I will share some technical knowledge about Current carrying capacity of 3Phase  XLPE UG Cable.

Let's start :Before discussion, full form of XLPE is Cross linked Poly Ethylene.It can withstand in high temperature and cross-linked features more moisture resistance.


By considering Size ,there are various sizes of 3 core cable available.Let us discuss their sizes with current carrying capacity.Their current carrying capacities are different according to installation i.e in laying ground and in air.

Size:

1)50 mm2 130amp(Ground),140amp(Air)
 2)95mm2(185Amp in Ground,200Amp in Air) 
3)150mm2(235Amp in ground,265Amp in Air)
4)185mm2(270Amp in Ground,310Amp in Air)
5)240 mm2(305Amp in Ground,345Amp in Air)
6)300 mm2(340Amp in Ground,396Amp in Air)

In above, every one may have some question that how current carrying capacity of a cable increased in air?I can answer this way that wind speed is major factor that affect current carrying capacity in air.When wind speed rises current carrying capacity of a cable increases.
 And in ground, thermal resistance does  major impact on cable . Thermal Resistances increases with the increase burial depth and current carrying capacity deceases.
