Did the President have the power to grant him pardon?

Under Israeli law, the President does have the power to grant a pardon. However, this power is generally used to reduce or relieve a sentence after a court has delivered a conviction and issued punishment. In Netanyahu's case, the court has not yet proven his guilt.

Therefore, if President Isaac Herzog were to grant a pardon now, it could potentially face legal difficulties and lead to increased corruption and disorder. The decision is highly anticipated, especially since the U.S. President also requested that Netanyahu be granted a pardon.
