Good News: Another coronavirus medicine in India . This injection will end COVID-19

Rahul Prakash, New Delhi: Indian pharmaceutical companies battling the coronavirus are gaining rapid success.

Another coronavirus medicine has been approved in India. The drug maker Hetero says that it is going to launch the antiviral drug Remadecivir for the treatment of COVID-19.

The company has already taken approval from the Drug Controller General of India (DGCI). This medicine is to be sold in India under the name Kovifor.



Remadesiveer, which is being called the panacea for the coronavirus epidemic, will also reach India by the end of this month.

The DCGI recently allowed the use of this drug in emergency cases for coronavirus patients. The DGCI has allowed the Indian pharmaceutical company Cipla and Hetero to manufacture and sell this medicine.


According to the company, the DGCI has approved the use of this drug in the treatment of both suspected and confirmed patients of coronavirus. However, these injections can only be given to patients whose condition is critical.

The company says that in view of the increasing cases of coronavirus in India, the approval of Kovifor can prove to be a game changer in the fight against the COVID-19 virus. Because its clinical trial results have been very successful.

Hetero claims that the company is ready to provide this medicine to the entire country immediately. The company that made the injection, which proved to be a game changer in the battle against coronavirus claims that Kovifor may prove to be the end of the road for the COVID-19 outbreak.

The company says that injection will be available in the market in 100 mg vials. It has to be intravenously administered under the supervision of a doctor or health care worker.

The company has tied up with Gilead Science Inc. of the US for this drug to expand the scope of treatment for COVID-19. According to the chairman of Hetero Group of Companies, the company is currently ready to meet the country's needs and does not have shortage of stock.

The Union Health Ministry has stated in its clinical management protocol that these injections are only for those who are on oxygen. This medicine is included as an emergency medicine only.


These injections are not to be given to patients struggling with kidney disease. It should also not be used in the treatment of pregnant women. It should not be used in the treatment of people under 12 years of age. The first dose of this drug in the form of an injection is 200 mg a day. Thereafter 100 mg should be used daily for five days.

On May 29 Gilead Sciences applied to the Indian Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency CDSCO for the import and marketing of Remedisvir. DCGI allowed it on June 1 under the Emergency Use Authority.

The Remdesiveer injection is an anti-viral injection. This injection has proven effective for diseases such as SARS and MERS-CoV. Therefore, the World Health Organization also hopes that this drug can prove effective against coronavirus.


However, the Ministry of Health of India and DCGI have clarified that this medicine can be used only in emergency cases.

Apart from Hetero and Cipla, four more pharma companies BDR, Jubilant, Mylan and DR Reddy's Labs have also sought permission to manufacture and market the injection in India and all are waiting for the approval of the Indian government.
